Life doesn't always lead us down roads pathed with gold. Or if your path is gold you still run into many obstacles just like in the movies, "The Wizard of Oz" or “Oz”.
No one said the roads of life will be easy nor did God say we will never have to deal with hard times. But what we are to gain is knowledge, experience, wisdom, change, growth, compassion for what others are going through, and the ability to help them, but only if we are willing to walk down that road.
"...And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope: and hope maketh not ashamed..." Romans 5: 3-5
It’s on the difficult roads we gain strength and it’s there where God begins to shape us for our future. If we check the Bible and many autobiographies, we will find many great men and women came into their purpose after traveling through difficult roads in their life. So, why would we believe we don't have to do the same?
I’ll be the first to say I’ve never enjoyed trials and tribulations and tried to run away from many of them. Yet, every time I ran, I ended up facing something else or making a full circle make to the original situation. The faster I ran away from the issues the further away I was getting to my beautiful destination, my purpose.
We want to reach our mountain top but forget we have to go through the valley to get there. You don't give a teenager the keys to a racecar to drive without taking him through the necessary steps of first learning how to drive. To be ready to handle what awaits us on the other end of the path we have to go through the journey that prepares us for it.
So, the best thing we can do is stop running away and together let's get on down the road to see what beautiful purpose awaits us.
Reaching back to walk forward together.
